Jun Wang
Dr. Jun Wang is a Senior Lecturer at Western Sydney University and Director of the Digital Engineering Lab, specialising in the convergence of construction management, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation. His research centres on developing AI-enabled platforms that transform how built assets are designed, managed, and decarbonised.
Dr. Wang leads the development of MetaBIM, a next-generation platform that converts unstructured and incomplete 3D model data into structured, enriched, and accurate BIM data to support advanced applications such as automated scheduling, data validation, and lifecycle asset management. In parallel, he spearheads EasyCarbon, a pioneering solution that integrates with MetaBIM to enable BIM-based embodied carbon estimation and AI-driven tracking of actual emissions through construction invoices and project records. Together, these platforms form a unique digital ecosystem for carbon-aware decision-making, compliance, and sustainability reporting.
With over 100 publications, an h-index of 48, and more than 10,000 citations, Dr. Wang is internationally recognised for his contributions to BIM, AI, and digital engineering. As Chief Investigator on multiple ARC and CRC-P grants, he collaborates extensively with government and industry partners to deliver innovative solutions for digitalisation and decarbonisation across construction and infrastructure sectors.
