Johnny Kwok-Wai Wong

Johnny Kwok-Wai Wong, PhD, FRICS, is an Associate Professor in the School of the Built Environment at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). His research specialises in construction informatics and automation, with a focus on digital technologies such as Building Information Modelling (BIM), image processing, and artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance productivity in both offsite prefabrication and onsite construction. He also investigates brain-computer interfaces (BCI) for robotic control, signal processing, and predictive HVAC fault detection to improve facility management efficiency. 

 

Johnny is a Chief Investigator and leads the BIM Research Program within the Hub, driving advances in digital technologies to enable effective human–robot teaming. Since joining UTS in 2017, he has taught across cost management and digital built environment subjects and currently serves as Course Director for the Graduate Diploma in Construction Management. Prior to academia, he gained professional experience as a Project Quantity Surveyor and Contract Administrator on major projects in Australia, Hong Kong SAR, and the United Kingdom.
