Duncan Maxwell
Associate Professor Duncan W. Maxwell is a leading researcher in the industrialisation and digital transformation of the construction industry, serving as Director of the Future Building Initiative and Research Program Lead (Digital) for Building 4.0 CRC at Monash University. A Registered Architect (Qld), his research focuses on platform-based construction, prefabricated building systems, and design for manufacture and assembly (DfMA), aiming to enhance design outcomes and democratise the building design process. His PhD from the University of Sydney (2018) examined the role of design in industrialised house building platforms, proposing a new platform-based vision for the industry. Duncan's applied research involves close collaboration with industry on live projects, exploring the integration of digital platforms, advanced manufacturing, and mass customisation in building design and production. He has been recognised for his contributions to the field, including a place in Monash University's Research Talent Accelerator Program in 2023.
